FLITTER FLUTTER

so....here's another one of my tutus for the tutu drive over at samster mommy...wanted to keep it on the simple side...but thought a little something extra was needed...the wheels started turning...and that's when the butterfly wand came to mind!...you won't believe how super simple they are to make!...took some pics and whipped up a tute for ya!...

you'll need...a scoring tool, lollipop sticks, ribbon, glue lines (these worked perfectly...but if you don't have any...just use another strong adhesive), and two butterfly cuts...for mine...i used my designers calendar cricut cart...cut 'em at 3 1/4"...make sure to flip one of the images...you want them to line up perfectly...also...use double sided cardstock...since they'll be a space between 'em...you'll be able to see...

here's the lollipop stick tag...these are the big 'uns!...lol...

now...using your scoring tool...you want to match up the right top part of the butterfly body and the right bottom part of the body along a score line...then score away!...

do the same thing with the left side of the butterfly body...match the top and bottom up to a score line...and score away!...

taking your glue lines...see...this is why they're perfect...or whatever adhesive you're using...and put some on the lollipop stick...try to make sure it's straight....

adhere to the backside of one of your butterflies...

take more of your glue lines...or whatever adhesive...and put more on the lollipop stick...

adhere the other butterfly...with the design you want showing facing up...make sure to line up with the butterfly underneath...you don't want it all whompy...lol...

here's a side shot...there's going to be a space...

take some of your ribbon and tie it on!...i did two pieces...but hey...it's your wand!...lol...

trim to the length that you want...

there you go!...one simple...but oh so adorable butterfly wand...that would make any little girl's heart flutter!...

Ohh that is adorable. My daughters and I made some tutus. They are 20, 19 and 15, it was for a photo shoot that they did. I must show them these wands, I see more photo's in the future

I really want to try to make these tutu's because they look super easy but I am scraed to go into Ms as I know I'll end up spending $$ on other things and I don't have the extra cash right now...I may make one for my daughter's bday next month though

Cute project! I just did a butterfly party for my daughter. These would have been a great addition! I'll have to keep this idea in mind for my next girl party! I just started a link party and I would LOVE it if you'd consider adding your crafts to it! I'm having flower headband giveaway as part of our first party too! http://imtopsyturvy.com/index.php/2010/07/topsy-turvy-tuesdays-1/

This is really cute! I don't have a little girl now (my daughter is 25) but I think I'll have to make some of these up to give away at the pediatric office where I work. I love that it is easy and inexpensive!
