A FIRECRACKER OF A BARRETTE

so...i realize that i might be a couple of days late on this...but hey...i really didn't make this until the 4th of july!....lol...anywho...i've been so wondering how to make these little korker bows...and found this great vid on youtube...believe it or not...you bake the ribbon!...funny thing...i use my oven more for craft reasons than actual food!...hee hee...to package this cutie up...i cut a star from the don juan cricut cart at 5 1/2" inches...really ended up doing 2...one from chipboard (aka cereal box) and then one with kraft stampin up cardstock...that way it was a bit thicker...did up some faux stitching to finish it off!...and boom...you end up with one little firecracker of a barrette!...

well...until i figure out a way to do a greenbean barrette...peas with have to do!...this one's super easy to do...i like using grosgrain...seems to be a bitter studier...just take your two pieces of darker green ribbon...now cut at about 2 1/2 inches...and fabric tac one long side of each ribbon together...then cut at a angle on each end to finish the pod...now for the peas...take a lighter green ribbon...cut at about 1/2 inch...using the fabric tac, attach the ends to each other to form a circle...when you have your three peas...attach to pod...pick a barrette...then using some super glue...slap 'er on there!...now you have a "pod"sitively adorable hair clip!...

well...you asked for a how to vid on the fishy barrettes...and i had to do what the people wanted!...lol...now keep in mind...this is my first vid...so bear with me!..and you can only watch it if you promise not to make fun of me!...i realize i have alot to learn on the movie making business...but i think from what a managed to actually get on camera...you'll be able to make one of these!...lol...enoy!...

so one day i was thinking...what would be a great hair accessory?...and of course....fish came to mind!...yeah...that's how my mind works!...lol...

how to make this little guy you ask?...i tie the ribbon in a knot...to form the head and tail fins...then attach the other fins...add an eye...googly of course!...and slap on a barrette blank...and there you!...to package...i used my everyday paper doll cricut cart...first used the markers...then cut!...this just makes me giggle...plus...since it's a friday during lent...it's a meat free craft!...lol...
