TUTU DRIVE 2010

so...when wandering through blogland...i can across samster mommy...and she had just posted about a tutu drive that she was doing....it's for a wonderful charity called the princess alexa foundation....they donate dress up clothes to seriously ill children....does that not touch your heart or what?...

well...i immediately ran out and gathered up supplies to start making!...using this no sew "10 minute tutu" post of hers...i got creating!...now...i did change up a couple of things...since i wanted mine to be more ballerina-ish...i ended up cutting the tulle in 24" inch strips...that way the finished skirt would be 12" inches long...with doing this...you only need 2 rolls of the tulle...also...i didn't use elastic...i cut a 60" inch piece of 1 1/2" inch satin ribbon...tied a knot at 20" inches...then another at 40" inches....this makes it adjustable and can fit a range of sizes...here's a couple that i whipped up...enjoy!...

using some of the leftover ribbon...i made up some super cute flowers...and adorned the center with pearls...then attached!...

now you might not be able to see in the pic...but this ones covered in rhinestones!...what little girl doesn't love bling?...

so hop on over to samster mommy and get all the details!...this is something that's tutu good not to participate in!...

What a special thing to make and for such a worthy purpose. I'm not sure I'm a tutu maker, but I am definitely going to blog about this to spread the word if that's OK.

What a fantastic cause! I'm so stoked. I made a couple tutus for my girls' halloween costumes, and I've still got plenty of tulle leftover for another one. Count me in! :)

When I saw your picture, I was missing those days with my DD. Now she's a teen...tutu's and wands just aren't her thing lol. How awesome there is a tutu drive. I was just looking at my patterns for fleece boas and crowns today (I purged 40 patterns I'm never going to use today and passed them on). Thanks for sharing.
