LEPRECHAUN LATHER

so...what do leprechauns lather up with?......shamrock soap of course!...with a little hidden secret in each!...yeppers...there's gold in them there soaps!...gold dollar coins to be exact!...

those sneaky little irish dudes are hiding money everywhere!...

after the soap is all gone...this is what you're left with!...see...hygiene does pay!...you get some loot and smell good to boot!...

easy peasy to do...following most of the steps here for the how to on soaping....when it comes to the part about pouring in the mold...you'll only fill half way up...let that cool...then plop coin in and fill to the top with more soap!...

now your little leprechauns will be nice and clean with a little green...well...more like gold!...

sham - ROCK!

when i say shamrock...i seem to put emphasis on the rock part...even have been known to do a little air guitar along with it!...so... when thinking up a little st paddy's day crafty...had the idea to get out some old records again!...and how awesome was it to find i had a green one in my stash!...

with some tracing, melting, and snipping...i ended up with this adorable little guy!...but wasn't done there...drilled a hole and added some ball chain...instant keychain!...or you could use one of those keyring thingies ...sorry for the technical term...lol...

the quick how to...i cut the shamrock shape from my cricut paper doll dress up and cartridge at 2 1/4" inches...using a pencil...traced onto the record...heated the oven to 200 degrees...put record on a silicon baking sheet...heated for like a minute or two...it'll start to "ruffle" up...then using my tim holtz scissors...started cutting away...when the record starts hardening up...just pop back in and reheat...keep doing this until the shamrock's all cut out!...put back in oven one final time... take out and curl up the edges a bit...you're done!...

but don't panic...no green record?...it's still just as cute with a black one!...this one has a pin slapped on the back!...

packaged all up for gifting!...

now this is for sure...one sham-ROCKING paddy's day craft!...

MAGNETS 'O LUCK

'tis the season for leprechauns and shamrocks....but most importantly GREEN!...wonder why i said that?...lol...anywho...thought it was about time to get my irish on...and do up a little st paddy's day craftie...

so...here ya go!...isn't it cute?...oh...what is it you ask?...

well...when you open 'er up...you've got a little luck!...

magnetic luck to be exact!...

how'd i do 'em?...well...i grabbed my ginormous bag of scrabble tiles that i bought off of ebay...perhaps 300 of 'em was a bit much...and some of those super stong neodymium magnets...then i figured out a word that goes along with the holiday...LUCK...so...i dug to find those tiles and then slapped a magnet on the back of each with a little super glue...bam...the craft part is done!...

now to the packaging...i attached some patterned paper to some adorable slide top metal tins that i had on hand...don't forget to round the corners on that paper before adhering down!...then top off with a festive sentiment and ribbon!...

now you can give a little luck to someone too!...

but don't just stop there!...this giftie could be done up for anything!...as long as there's a four letter word for it!...now...now...keep it clean!...

WE INTERRUPT THIS CRAFT BLOG

to bring you a card!...as most know...i've never claimed to be a cardmaker...but it seems that the past couple of times i tried to work on projects...i ended up with cards...weird...i know...but just had to go with the creative flow!...since i was pretty darn proud of how this one turned out...i thought i'd force you to look at share...

for my card base...i started with a 4" inch by 8" piece of cardstock and scored it in half...cut my pattered paper at 3 3/4" inches by 3 3/4" inches...then took a 3 1/2" inch by 3 1/2" inch piece of cardstock and used my papertrey ink butterfly die for the cut out...just randomly placed...outlined with my signo white gel pen...rounded the edges of the patterend paper and kraft cardstock...then pop dotted each layer...got my doodle dot on...and yeppers...inked up the edges!...added a sentiment and tulle bow to finish it off!...

hope you like!...and now back to your regularly crafty blog that is already in progress....

I'M JUST A SPOOL IN LOVE

so...i saw the most adorable idea for a little unraveling love note that i just had to try...and luckily for me...i had all the supplies needed for it!...because everyone keeps a well stocked supply of wooden spools...right?...

anywho...got some fabric and ripped a piece that would fit perfectly on the wooden spool...now mine are little guys at an inch high...but any size will work...then stamped away using the perfect little sentiment from pink by design...using fabri tac i attached one end of the fabric strip to the spool...and rolled 'er up!...

to keep it closed i used with a straight pin sandwiched between two heart stickers...now isn't this just sew so cute?...

here is it all rolled out!...a teeny tiny valentine...with a big message!...

see...a heart day giftie that's easy peasy and not too cheesy!...

I {HEART} TOPIARIES

so...the other day while in target...the hubs starts piling these super cute mini stuffed conversation hearts from the dollar spot into the cart...i'm wondering what the heck is he doing?...then he says "let's see if you can figure something out to do with these"...ummm...was that a challenge?....because it sounded like one to me!...

well...in the great words of barney stintson from how i met your mother...challenge accepted!....and before we were even out of the store...i knew what i was doing...topiaries!...

look at how this little cutie turned out!...and best part...super easy and cheap!...now that should teach him to challenge me!...so...if you're keeping score...the bean...1...hubs...zero....

wanna make your own?...

you'll need one of the stuffed hearts with all the obnoxious tags ripped off...bucket...these are from the dollar spot too...and some ribbon...

also...grab a wooden dowel...this one's 1/4" inch in diameter by 12" inches in length...tulle...an empty ribbon spool...and glue gun...

take ribbon and add some adhesive to it...you could do glue or what i used...my atg...then adhere to the top of the dowel at an angle...and start wrapping around...

keep going until all covered...snip off the excess...now...you could always just paint the dowel...but it's actually quicker to cover with the ribbon...

shove the empty ribbon spool in the bucket...it's a nice snug fit...now...i always have these on hand...but if you don't have any...then you could just cut a piece of styrofoam and put in there...

put a big 'ol blob of hot glue on one end of the dowel...no need to be too pretty...

then put dowel into the hole of the ribbon spool...now add more blobs of glue all around the dowel...to keep 'er in place...hold the dowel straight until the glue cools...don't want it all cattywompus....

find the center on the point of the heart pillow...make a little "x" shaped slit...

slide pillow on the dowel...

cut about two feet of tulle...smoosh up and shove in the bucket...then fluff to make pretty...

all done!...super cute, huh?...and a little over two bucks make!...can't get much sweeter than that!...

look at all the yummy colors these little pillows come in!...

had to do up one with my fav color combo!...red and turquoise....

now these topiaries will be at the heart of every conversation!...
